Ballet Folklorique Tamboula d’Haiti

NEW ORLEANS (JANUARY, 19, 2010) --The George and Leah McKenna Museum of African American Art will host a “Party with a Purpose” fundraiser to benefit Ecole Nationale des Arts (ENARTS) and Peniel Guerrier, artistic director of Ballet Folklorique Tamboula d’Haiti, of Port au Prince, Haiti, Friday, January 22, from 8 p.m. until. There will be a silent auction and donations will be accepted at the patron’s discretion.

The Soul Rebels Brass Band, Chuck Perkins and Voices of the Big Easy, the Newcomb and Tulane University Faculty Departments of Theatre and Dance and various DJ’s are scheduled to perform.

In the wake of the earthquake in Haiti, Monique Moss and supporting New Orleans artists have organized this grassroots effort that will directly aid the master teachers and students of the school in rebuilding their lives and the vital function of ENARTS as a center for Arts and Cultural Education and spiritual well-being. Moss has been studying with Peniel and is scheduled to return to Port-au-Prince with Peniel in the up-coming weeks.
