The largest audience in TV history watched our New Orleans Saints defeat the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday in the Super Bowl. While many people have said the Saints' victory was 43 years in coming and represented redemption for a city that was devastated five years ago by Hurricane Katrina, I believe that the victory was the culmination of a team effort in which the citizens of New Orleans were more than just the cheering section.
In fact, the New Orleans team members (citizens) were the heart and soul of this historic win. Having been a part of world championship wins in sports such as the NFL, Major League Baseball, boxing and tennis, I know firsthand the impact that the local fans can and do have on pulling victory from the jaws of defeat.
