Stanley Restaurant in Jackson Square is a little slice of perfection. Clean and crisp with fresh flowers on the tables, the tall, expansive windows look out on one of the most historic areas in the nation. Stanley is owned by Chef Scott Boswell who also owns Stella! He created Stanley to be Stella!'s casual counterpart.
The best part about Stanley? The food is good too. My personal favorite is the Reuben Sandwich which is stacked high with corned beef, Swiss, and sauerkraut on Rye. A side of their crisp fries completes the meal. Stanley's serves breakfast all day, which can be perfect after a late New Orleans night. Let me recommend the Eggs Benedict poor boy--two poached eggs, ham, and Hollandaise sauce on French Bread make a spectacular hangover cure.
If you're looking for something on the lighter side, the Hearts of Romaine salad with Chipotle Caesar dressing and pesto covered croutons is fantastic. For an additional charge, it can be topped with grilled chicken breast or cornmeal-crusted oysters.
Go to Stanley. Enjoy the air conditioning, people watch, and above all, enjoy the food.
