Don Boucree has paced the halls of St. Augustine High School as student, teacher and parent. After Friday, he will walk through them as principal.
School leaders plan to publicly present Boucree in his new position at a 10 a.m. news conference at the 7th Ward campus, the latest in a series of changes for the Catholic boys high school that has fought to find its footing since the 2005 flood. Boucree, who graduated from St. Augustine in 1976, fills the vacancy left by fellow alum the Rev. John J. Raphael, who was named school president in May. That followed the retirement of the Rev. Joseph Doyle.
