State of the City Address

Just a few hours ago, Mayor Mitch Landrieu gave his first State of the City Address. With the good and the bad, Mayor Landrieu gave the facts. Introducing him was Xavier University President Norman Francis, whom left us with inspirational words, “Together we can excel, and not just survive.” He discussed the role that Mayor Landrieu took on in just his first 30 days. Dr. Norman Francis ended with “Over the last three months, Landrieu has used his energy like a jet fire on his way to war.”

In the beginning of Mayor Landrieu’s speech he shared some of the first acts he completed while in office. This includes finding one of the best police chiefs in the country as well as change to how contracts are handled, to give local and minority businesses an opportunity to compete on level playing fields. He then goes discuss his urgency to President Obama to implement offshore drilling and lift the six month moratorium.
