September Volunteer Opportunities

1. The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana are looking for a 2 week long marsh restoration project in the open mud flats located on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Over 70,000 marsh plants will be planted to help and restore wetlands.  This project will take place September 27th through October 8th from 8am until approximately 3pm. Volunteers will meet at the Refuge Headquarters at 61389 Highway 434 Lacombe, LA. You can sign up for one day or multiple days. 2. STAIR (Start The Adventure In Reading), the
   25-year-old local children's literacy program, is seeking tutors for
   the fall 2010 semester. Tutor training begins Saturday, September 11
   through Tuesday, October 19 at locations around the greater New Orleans
   area. Training takes only two hours and no experience is necessary.
   Tutors volunteer after school or on Saturday mornings at STAIR sites in
