Free E-Waste Recycling Day

Saturday October 23, 2010, 9am-1pm

TGP and Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council will host a free electronic waste disposal day at The Green Project. We'll accept PC's, monitors, scanners, printers, fax machines, VCRs, keyboards, mice, phones, phone systems, cell phones, and all other electronics that contain a circuit board.  However, no TVs, copiers, or white goods will be accepted. The E.P.A. estimates that over 2.25 million tons of e-waste is discarded every year-- a three-fold increase in waste in just ten years. The life span of a computer is quickly shrinking to 2 years, and 80% of these machines are dumped into landfills. If disposed of improperly,  the heavy metals from the circuit boards can leach into our natural environment, posing a public health and environmental threat.
