Located in the Bywater in Markey Park, the 2010 Mirliton Festival features all the things that make Louisiana festivals great— food, music, and art— with a laid-back vibe that only the Bywater can offer. With seven musical acts, including Bywater’s own Kermit Ruffins, there is something for everyone. For those of you on schedule, the musical lineup is:

6:00 - Kermit Ruffins & the BBQ Swingers
5:00 - Happy Talk Band
4:00 - R. Scully Rough 7
3:00 - Hurray for the Riff Raff
2:00 - Gal Holiday and the Honky Tonk Revue
1:00 - The 101 Runners
Noon - New Orleans Jazz Vipers
11:00 - The Mirlitones
Let’s talk about the food. There will be a variety of dishes from neighborhood eateries—Frady’s, The Joint, Jack Dempsey’s, Café Roux, Sally’s Country Gourmet Foods, Country Club, Maurepas Foods, and Satsuma. With so many choices, you’re sure to find some delicious mirliton creations. If you’re craving something sweet, the Sucre Gelato truck and Meltdown Popsicles will be out at the fest. Rounding out festival choices are libations from Bacchanal and Abita.
No festival would be complete without arts and crafts. The Mirliton Festival is sure to have an eclectic selection, including offerings from several Bywater artists. No matter what draws you to the fest— food, music, crafts, or people-watching, the Mirliton Festival has it all. So head on over to the Bywater, spread out a blanket, kick back and pass a good time.
