It didn't get much love from critics when it bowed in theaters last spring, and it got even less from audiences, but the locally shot "Jonah Hex" finally got a little recognition today (Jan. 10) from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
As I predicted might happen in a column last month, the supernatural Western - starring Josh Brolin as the disfigured character from the old Weird Western Tales comics - advanced in the Oscar race for best makeup, joining six other films on the Academy's shortlist of movies still in the running for a final nomination.
