he Anthony Bean Community Theater is in rehearsal for a 2010 regional tour of Bean’s ‘504,’ which was staged here in September 2007.
Writer-director Bean’s “hip-hop musical play,” choreographed by Arieuna McGee, focuses on displaced New Orleans children who return to the city a few months after the storm to be part of the rebuilding by “doing what we do best — taking it to the streets! Singing and dancing and making music!”
An eight-city tour opens Feb. 27 at the Manship Theater in Baton Rouge.
So far, Bean reports, the musical will be performed at the following cities: April 3 at the Saenger Theatre in Biloxi, Miss.; April 24 at the Rosa Hart Theater in Lake Charles; May 15 in Houston; May 22 at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta; and Aug. 7 at The Strand Theatre in Shreveport.
