A professional police organization engaged by Mayor-elect Mitch Landrieu'stransition team has received 75 applications from candidates seeking to become New Orleans' next police chief, according to a statement issued Monday afternoon by the chairmen of a citizen task force that will help vet the candidates.
Xavier University President Norman Francis and local Urban League President Nolan Rollins also vowed in the written statement to release the names of all finalists for the top job at NOPD.
