- Due to the Gulf Oil Spill, the Community Center of St Bernard is experiencing a substantial increase of 30% or more in clients coming into use basic services like the food pantry and clothing bank. As a
result, we need additional volunteers to help staff these programs on Tuesday Aug 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 and Thursday Aug 19 & 26. We also need help for our Food for Seniors USDA food box distribution on Friday, Aug 20. The Community Center can use up to 12 volunteers on any of those dates. For more information 504.281.2512 www.ccstb.org - This year marks the tenth anniversary of New Orleans Jazz Celebration's annual Satchmo Club Strut. A three hour shift entitles you to one general admission - come help us out! The event is Friday August 6th from 6pm till 2am - there are also a few shifts of setup the day before and teardown Saturday. Come help us, enjoy some terrific live music, and support jazz in New Orleans. Musical acts include the Hot 8 Brass Band, the Ellis Marsalis Quartet, Freddy Omar, and Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers.
