COUNTDOWN TO THE 2010 FALL GARDEN FESTIVAL

Get ready for the Fall Garden Festival 2010! Last year, over 3500 garden enthusiasts enjoyed vendors from around the region as they presented their works under the three hundred year old oak trees of the Botanical Garden in City Park. With this year’s addition of Live Music, Garden Art and a Kid’s Area, the Fall
Garden Festival will be a picturesque venue for horticulture enthusiasts and local music fans groove in the garden.

Explore all the new activities that the 2010 Fall Garden Festival has to offer.  Discover botanical works of art from local garden artists and landscape designers, including installations by Plant Gallery, Mario Villa and Mia Kaplan. Learn how to create botanical works of art within any home garden during a topiary demonstration by Pearl Fryar and other educational seminars, including a screening of the documentary, "A Man Named Pearl”.  During the New Plant Sale, festival-goers can shop for deals on plants from the city’s finest nurseries.

Inside the family friendly center, located in the Pavilion of the Two Sisters, kids and parents can learn how to lead healthier and greener lives through fun hands-on activities. Outside, younger gardeners can take a stroll through ‘Scarecrows Trail’ which features over 150 decorated life-sized and miniature scarecrows by community partners.

Enjoy local music on Saturday and Sunday, October 16 – 17 from 10:00am through 6:00pm, on the Botanical Garden’s “Robert B. Haspel” stage in the beautiful Zemurray Azalea and Camellia Garden.   Attendees can also expect great food and drinks, with healthy delights from some of New Orleans’ favorite eateries. As part of the “Earth Friendly Festival” initiative, the event will focus on creating a greener festival experience with the use of solar power and recyclable beverage cups.

Admission is $8 and the event is open to the public.
