Gentilly Festival, Inc. will hold it¹s third annual, two-day festival October 9 & 10, at Pontchartrain Park in Gentilly. Saturday¹s festival times will be from 11 a.m. 7 p.m. and on Sunday from 12 p.m. 6 p.m. GentillyFest 2010 is presented by Bud Light.
Gentilly Fest 2010¹s Main Stage will feature Saturday entertainment to include Booty Trove, Bleu Orleans, Wise Guys, Bucktown Allstars with Kermit Ruffins closing out the day. The very popular Gospel Tent will see performances by the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Gospel Choir, the Church at New Orleans Gospel Choir, the Mahalia Jackson Gospel Choir, St. Raymond/St. Leo the Great Gospel Choir with the World Famous Zion Harmonizers giving the final performance of the day.
Sunday¹s Main Stage performances will include Judy Brisco Spellman, Wanda Rouzan, U4ria, and Rockin¹ Dopsie will close out GentillyFest 2010. Highlighted in the Gospel Tent for Sunday will be the Airflow Gospel Singers, the Bethel Lutheran Church Gospel Choir, the Men of Bethel Colony South, St. Raymond/St. Leo the Great Gospel Choir and the Watson Memorial Mass Choir will close out the day.
Gentilly Fest 2010¹s Restaurant Row will offer great food from local restaurants and organizations. The Festival¹s Kid¹s Village that will offer pony rides, a 5-in-1 combo space walk, face painting and numerous games and activities for children. The GentillyFest 2010 Arts & Crafts Village will highlight local artists and their wares. The medical tent will provide Gentilly Fest 2010 attendees with free blood pressure screenings and a host of other services and information.
Restaurant Row will offer tasty food and refreshments from local restaurants, catering companies and organizations to include: Brocato's Eat Dat, Boy Scout Troop # 35, C & J Catering, Catering Connection, Lil Dizzy¹s, Loretta¹s Pralines, Merlin¹s, Original New Orleans Po-Boys and Snowballs, Ms. Linda's Catering, Praline Connection, Smoothie King #4, Second Line Catering, Sweet Lorraine¹s, Sweet Potato Café, Teen Challenge, T.J. Gourmet and Vaucresson¹s.
Gentilly Festival, Inc. is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that produces Gentilly Fest. Free to the public, Gentilly Fest celebrates all things "Gentilly," including continuous live music both on the main stage and the gospel tent; sumptuous food from a variety of local restaurants & caterers; and fine arts and crafts for sale. The Festival has activities for children that include pony rides and a kid¹s stage. There will also be a variety of practical information offered by non-profit organizations as well as booths for local businesses who are supportive of the cause.
Gentilly Fest supports the New Orleans Police and Fire Departments, children's music camps and other New Orleans organizations. This year, Gentilly Fest will also donate funds to the sports programs of Pontchartrain Park & Milne playgrounds and the Louis Armstrong summer jazz camp for kids.
