Get Ready For The Drums: Congo Square Rhythms Festival
Don’t miss your chance to see the wonderful Haitian protest singer Manno Charlemagne, known as the "Bob Marley of Haiti"! Come out to the 2010 Congo Square Rhythms Festival on Sunday, November 14, 2010 to Old U.S. Mint. Check out some great live music, food, kid’s activities and a huge crafts fair that you definitely don’t want to miss. Admission for this event is free and with two stages you don’t want to miss out on this type of entertainment. Early in the day you get to see some of my favorites perform like Kora Konnection. Also, Mardi Gras Indian battle and even an opening drum circle that I’m particularly excited to see will take place.
If you are like me and enjoy African dancing you can catch such dance companies as N’Fungola Sibo, Culu, and N’Kafu.
Along with this festival will be a symposium with presentations by Ned Sublette and Jean Montes among many others. So come out and enjoy this weekend.
